Healthcare with a patient-centered design

KentuckyOne Health has more than 200 locations including hospitals, physician groups, clinics, primary care centers, specialty institutes and home health agencies, with employees across the state of Kentucky and southern Indiana. KentuckyOne Health is the largest health system in Kentucky and has more than 3,100 licensed beds.

Where Care Meets Convenience

My goal for this project was to create a vibrant, friendly design that not only elevated the overall user experience but also conveyed a sense of warmth and trust, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to caring for people. I wanted the website to feel welcoming and intuitive, making it easier for visitors to navigate and access essential information quickly. Key to this was optimizing the main navigation to ensure that users could effortlessly find what they were looking for. Whether they were seeking out healthcare providers, looking for a specific location, or exploring services, the navigation needed to be streamlined and user-friendly.

Putting Patients First

One of the most noticeable improvements was the enhanced visibility of the physician search feature and location information. These are core components of the user experience, as many visitors come to the website seeking specific doctors or hospital locations. By prominently featuring these elements on the homepage and throughout the site, I made it easier for users to access these critical pieces of information with just a few clicks.

Designing with Purpose and Heart

Throughout the design process, I was intentional about reflecting the hospital’s culture in every aspect of the site. Every visual element, from the color scheme to the typography, was chosen with care to convey a sense of compassion, professionalism, and reliability. I also made sure that the content and overall design worked together to highlight how the hospital serves its community—whether through patient care, specialized services, or community outreach. Every decision, from layout to functionality, was made with the hospital's mission in mind: to make patients feel cared for and valued every step of the way. The end result was a design that not only improved usability but also strengthened the hospital’s brand and its connection with the people it serves.
